CAF Champions League Round of 16 Draw Results
The much-anticipated draw for the CAF Champions League Round of 16 was conducted today in Cairo, revealing an exciting lineup for African football fans. Al-Ahly, the reigning champion and record holder with 12 titles, finds itself in Group 3 alongside Algeria's Chabab Belouizdad, South Africa's Orlando Pirates, and Ivory Coast's Stade d'Abidjan. This group promises thrilling matches as Al-Ahly aims to defend its title against formidable opponents.
In Group 2, Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca and Wydad Casablanca will compete against Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa and Maniema Union from the DR Congo. Esperance, last season's runner-up, will face tough competition in Group 4, where they will meet Egyptian Pyramids, Angola's Sagrada Esperança, and Mali's Djoliba.
The group stage matches are set to commence on November 26 and will run until January 18, 2025. Each team will play a total of six matches, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stages, culminating in the final scheduled for May 2025.
