Remembering Elias Khoury: A Literary Giant and Political Activist
Elias Khoury, a prominent Lebanese novelist and political activist, passed away on September 15, 2024, at the age of 76, after a prolonged illness. Born in Beirut in 1948, Khoury was deeply engaged with the Palestinian cause, which influenced his literary work and activism throughout his life. His most acclaimed novel, “Bab al-Shams,” published in 1998, poignantly narrates the struggles of Palestinian refugees and was later adapted into a film.
