In a recent initiative celebrating the 53rd Union Day, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) distributed 450 free child car seats to newborns in 24 hospitals across Dubai. This initiative, known as 'My Child’s Gift on National Day,' aims to enhance child safety in vehicles and promote the importance of using appropriate child seats. The program has successfully provided over 2,000 child seats to mothers during Union Day celebrations over the past five years. The RTA emphasizes that proper use of child seats can significantly reduce injuries and fatalities among children in car accidents, with studies showing a 54% reduction in injuries and 71% for newborns. Furthermore, in Germany, child seats are mandatory for children until they reach 12 years of age or 1.50 meters in height, according to the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). The introduction of the Isofix system in 2014 has improved child seat installation safety in vehicles, making it easier for parents to secure their children. Non-compliance with child seat regulations can lead to fines ranging from 30 to 70 euros in Germany.
