Disfrutar, an iconic restaurant in Barcelona, has been named the best restaurant in the world according to the annual '50’s Best' ranking, a significant reference in culinary rankings. Already boasting three Michelin stars and positioned in the top 3 last year, Disfrutar takes the top spot this year thanks to its innovative cuisine and relentless pursuit of perfection. This accolade not only celebrates the restaurant itself but also highlights the strength of Spanish cuisine, which sees three restaurants in the top 5.
Spanish gastronomy shines again with Asador Etxebarri, from Basque chef Victor Arguinzoniz, taking the second place. The restaurant, known for its exceptional grilling techniques, marks a return to the top for Spanish cuisine that has long been celebrated in these rankings, with notable mentions for Ferran Adrià and the Roca brothers' Celler de Can Roca, which held the first position in previous years. La Table de Bruno Verjus in Paris comes in third place, showing the global acclaim for French cuisine.

The coronation ceremony took place in Las Vegas, United States, with awards going to the best gastronomic talents from 26 countries across five continents. Notable among them were four Italian restaurants that made it to the 1-50 ranking this year: Lido 84 in Gardone Riviera at No.12, Reale in Casteldi Sangro at No.19, Uliassi in Senigallia at No.50, and Piazza Duomo in Alba at No.39. While some Italian restaurants saw a drop in their rankings, Piazza Duomo experienced a rise by three positions.
William Drew, the editorial director of The World's 50 Best Restaurants, emphasized that the broad representation from 26 countries 'demonstrates the desire for variety and excellence in the hospitality industry shows no signs of abating.' This year’s results underline the diversity and creativity in global dining, resonating with the refined tastes of food enthusiasts worldwide.
