Benoît Saint Denis Returns to UFC Paris with Renewed Energy
Benoît Saint Denis, the French mixed martial artist known as "BSD," is set to headline UFC Paris this Saturday, September 28, 2024, against Brazilian fighter Renato Moicano. After suffering a knockout defeat to Dustin Poirier on March 9, which marked a significant setback in his career, Saint Denis is eager to reclaim his standing in the UFC. Weighing in at 70.7 kg, he is prepared to face Moicano, who is currently ranked higher in the division.
Since his last fight, Saint Denis has undergone substantial changes both personally and professionally. He has returned to training in Bayonne, a city that holds personal significance from his time as a special forces soldier. Notably, he has parted ways with his long-time coach, Daniel Woirin, a decision that Woirin publicly expressed regret over. Despite this change, Saint Denis continues to work with his jiu-jitsu coach, Christophe Savoca, and emphasizes the importance of adapting and refining his fighting style. "My training camp was very different from the previous ones," he stated, highlighting his renewed passion for training and commitment to precision in his technique.
Nassourdine Imavov and Other French Fighters Join the Card
Alongside Saint Denis, Nassourdine Imavov will also compete in a crucial matchup against Brendan Allen. Ranked 4th in the middleweight division, Imavov is taking a risk by fighting in front of his home crowd, as a loss could jeopardize his title aspirations. He expressed his desire to compete in Paris again, saying, "If you want to be champion, you have to be able to beat everyone."
The UFC Paris event will also feature several other French fighters, including Nora Cornolle, Taylor Lapilus, and Farès Ziam, who are all looking to secure victories on their home turf. Each fighter aims to make a mark in the octagon, contributing to an exciting night of fights that promises to showcase the talent of French mixed martial artists.
