Anduril Industries Unveils AI-Powered Drones
Defense technology company Anduril Industries has introduced a groundbreaking AI-powered attack drone, the Bolt, which can be conveniently transported in a backpack. This innovation was showcased in a recent YouTube video, demonstrating the drone's capabilities in combat scenarios. The Bolt drone autonomously tracks targets using artificial intelligence, while its counterpart, the Bolt-M, is designed to engage and destroy these targets.
Rapid Deployment and Military Applications
The Bolt drone weighs approximately 15 pounds and can be disassembled for easy transport. According to Anduril's Chief Strategy Officer, Chris Brose, it can be set up and launched by a single soldier in just five minutes. The drone is equipped with three pounds of explosives, as illustrated in the video where it successfully strikes a targeted truck, showcasing its destructive potential. Anduril plans to deliver an undisclosed number of these drones to the U.S. Navy in the coming months.
Recent Contracts and Future Prospects
Anduril Industries has demonstrated its ability to secure significant military contracts, including a recent $250 million deal with the Department of Defense to produce 500 AI-powered Roadrunner drones. These drones are designed to disable larger unmanned aerial vehicles. The company's innovative approach has positioned it as a key player in the defense technology sector, particularly in the realm of autonomous military systems.
