Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff dominated their Wimbledon matches, while French players had a strong showing. Highlights include Quentin Halys' victory and Sonay Kartal's historic advance.

Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff, both seeded 2 in the tournament, showcased their prowess on Center Court in the second round of Wimbledon. Alcaraz defeated the Australian Aleksandar Vukic in straight sets (7-6, 6-2, 6-2), while Gauff swept away the Romanian Anca Todoni (6-2, 6-1).

Frenchman Quentin Halys (220th) made a significant impact by defeating American Christopher Eubanks (62nd) in three rounds. This victory puts him one match away from equaling his best performance on London turf. Eubanks, who was a sensation in the 2023 tournament, will see a significant drop in rankings.

Lucas Pouille, despite a rough start, managed to secure a victory against Serbian Laslo Djere (3-6, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1). Ugo Humbert, seeded 16, also advanced by defeating Dutchman Botic Van De Zandschulp (7-6, 6-1, 6-3). Another Frenchman, Arthur Rinderknech, achieved his first Wimbledon victory by defeating Kei Nishikori (5-7, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2).

In a dramatic match, Tomas Machac made a stunning comeback against David Goffin, who led two sets to zero. Machac eventually won the match in a super tie-break (3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6).

British player Sonay Kartal, ranked 298th, caused a sensation by eliminating French Clara Burel (6-3, 5-7, 6-3). Kartal became the first qualified player to reach the third round of Wimbledon since 1997 and will face Coco Gauff next.

Casper Ruud, seeded 8, continued his struggle on grass by losing to Italian Fabio Fognini in four sets (6-4, 7-5, 6-7, 6-3).

Daniil Medvedev (5th) managed to defeat Frenchman Alexandre Müller in four sets (6-7, 7-6, 6-4, 7-5), while Elina Svitolina overcame Polish Magda Linette (7-5, 6-7, 6-3) to advance to the second round.

  • The French contingent at Wimbledon had a mixed day with notable performances from several players. Ugo Humbert, the French No. 1, secured his place in the third round with a solid victory against Botic Van De Zandschulp. Quentin Halys also advanced by defeating Christopher Eubanks in straight sets.
  • Lucas Pouille showed resilience by coming back from a two-set deficit to win against Laslo Djere. Arthur Rinderknech also demonstrated his skill by defeating Kei Nishikori in five sets.
  • On the downside, Alexandre Müller put up a strong fight but ultimately lost to Daniil Medvedev. Clara Burel was another disappointment for the French, losing to Sonay Kartal in three sets.
  • The day also saw dramatic matches like Tomas Machac's comeback against David Goffin and Casper Ruud's early exit from the tournament. British player Sonay Kartal's victory over Clara Burel was a highlight, making her the first qualified player to reach the third round since 1997.
