Woman Indicted for Murder in Saint-Priest Stabbing Incident

A 28-year-old woman has been indicted for murder following the fatal stabbing of a man in Saint-Priest, a suburb near Lyon. The incident occurred on the night of August 3 to 4, 2023, when the police discovered the body of a man in a residential area around 4:45 a.m. The Lyon prosecutor, Thierry Dran, confirmed that the woman, born in 1996, is also facing charges for inflicting injuries on another man, who suffered total incapacity for work for two days.

Details Surrounding the Incident

Initial reports indicate that the woman, along with two men, had spent the evening consuming alcohol and drugs. The trio reportedly stopped in a secluded area so one of the men could urinate. According to the woman's account, both men attempted to assault her, leading her to grab a knife in self-defense, ultimately fatally stabbing one of the men. The second man was also injured but was later released without any charges related to sexual assault.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings

The Lyon public prosecutor's office has opened a judicial investigation for murder and violence involving a weapon. The investigation is being handled by the interdepartmental direction of the Rhône national police. As of now, there are no charges for rape or attempted rape against the accused, as clarified by the prosecutor. The woman remains in pre-trial detention at the Corbas remand center as the investigation continues.
