Russian Air Defense Forces Intercept 47 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
In a significant overnight operation, Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed 47 Ukrainian drones across six regions of Russia, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on November 29. The majority of the drones, totaling 29, were shot down over the Rostov region, while eight were eliminated in Krasnodar, and three in each of the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Voronezh regions. One drone was also intercepted over Crimea. The Ministry characterized these drone attacks as attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to carry out terrorist actions against Russian territory.
Damage Reported in Rostov Region
Following the drone attacks, a major fire erupted at an industrial facility in the Kamensky district of Rostov, prompting a response from 109 personnel and 38 units of firefighting equipment. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported, although the roof of a private house was damaged in the Masalovka farmstead, which was unoccupied at the time. Additional damage was noted in the village of Dyachkino, where debris from a UAV caused damage to windows in a residential building. Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar has instructed local officials to conduct door-to-door assessments to evaluate property damage and assist affected residents.
Ongoing Attacks and Countermeasures
The drone attacks were not isolated incidents; earlier on November 28, Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported similar assaults on the city of Shebekino, where two drones caused damage to private homes but resulted in no injuries. The governor noted that power lines were also affected, leaving one street without electricity. In the village of Skorodnoye, drone debris caused damage to homes and a gas pipe, leading to a fire that required emergency services to shut off the gas supply. The ongoing conflict has seen a rise in drone warfare, with the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducting multiple attacks in recent days, including incidents that resulted in injuries to civilians in the Belgorod region.
