Escalation of Violence in the West Bank Amid Ongoing Conflict
Israeli occupation forces have intensified their operations in the West Bank, conducting raids and arrests across various regions. Reports indicate that on the night of November 29, 2024, Israeli forces stormed the city of Jericho and the town of Beit Furik, where they arrested ten Palestinians. This escalation follows a series of confrontations between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance fighters, particularly at two checkpoints west of Tulkarm, known as Taybeh and Tsnaoz, where resistance fighters reportedly opened fire.
In addition to these incidents, Israeli forces have been active in other areas, including the Shuweika suburb of Tulkarm and the town of Bal'a, where they notified the family of a prisoner about impending home demolitions. The situation in the West Bank remains tense, with intermittent clashes reported, especially in towns like Ya'bad, where resistance fighters from the Al-Quds Brigades claimed to have targeted an Israeli military vehicle with an explosive device.
The ongoing military actions come in the context of a broader conflict that has seen nearly 800 Palestinians killed and over 6,600 injured in the West Bank since October 2023. This violence coincides with the ongoing war in Gaza, which has now entered its 14th month, further complicating the humanitarian situation in the region.
